This exciting new Chilean artist
commenced her love affair with the human figure at an early
age, graduating from High School with an International
Baccalaureate in Art from Sir Isaac Newton College in Peru,
at the age of 16, followed by a series of workshops in
painting, drawing and sculpture both in Lima and Santiago,
as well as studies under the renowned Chilean painter,
Eduardo de la Sierra in 1994.
In 1996, Carolina joined the Universidad Catolica de Chile
where she obtained a Diploma in Sculpture in 1999, while at the same time
working with artists such as Maria Sonia Noguera, Luz Maria Soriano, Consuelo
Aninat, and Claudio Vidal, obtaining practical experience in the areas of human
figure in cast iron, art appreciation, engraving and human sculpture. It was
during this period that her deep commitment to sculpture became evident. She
was only 21!
In 2000, she joined the Margarita Checa Studio, deepening
her knowledge of human figure drawing, and also undertook a series of courses at
the National School of Fine Arts of Peru for the next four years.
In 2005, Carolina joined the Vitrofusion Studio workshop of
Victor Silva’s Tierra Viva in Lima, where she acquired knowledge
and experience in glass sculpture.
Carolina’s work has been exhibited both in Chile and Peru,
with specific showings at the San Isidro Cultural Center and at the Municipality
of Lince in Lima, Peru in 2001 and 2003, respectively, and at the Museo de Artes
Visuales in Santiago, Chile. Some of her sculptures can also be seen at the
Residence of the Chilean Ambassador in Forbes Park.
Carolina’s love of art extends not only to her own
creations, but also that of classic and contemporary artists, whose works she
had lovingly restored for the Municipality of Lima, working with Italian works
of art, using clay, resin and plaster.
