Romulo Olazo
Ola’s translucent compositions is a balance of contradictions –
“linear, accurate shape fragments, double-minded about being organic
and hard-edged, basking and reveling in suspended balance,
contradicting each other in color identity and surface geography.”
His recent works are not limited to abstract compositions. He
combines his signature style with still life subjects such as the
Anthurium and the Kasuy.
Jonathan Olazo
Jonathan’s
installation stems from ideas he had articulated in a draft article
for a fictional or, in the artist’s words, a “fake” art magazine.
The densely worded essay is intended to tease out the conventions
and standards derived from art historical texts and those observed
in mainstream art practices.
